Keyman insurance is a life assurance policy that protects a company or an institution against the consequences of the death of a very important employee, the so-called key person. Keyman insurance is frequently required by investors, if these ascertain that the success of a company depends to a large extent on one single key person. Expressed in other words, the investor realises that the death or the incapacity for work of the key person could endanger his investment. The Keyman insurance provides the company with a certain security because, in the event of the key person dying or becoming incapacitated for work, it will receive the agreed insured amount. The money is then available to enable the company to bridge this loss or to indemnify the investors in the event of liquidation of the company.
